Contour skins, introduced in 2002, have quickly become the first choice of ski-touring experts looking for lightweight but dependable equipment. The fast gliding, hydrophobic plush is made of a 70 % Mohair (mountain goat hair) fabric, reinforced with 30 % polyester. A dense weaving structure offers superior grip.
Besides the proven rubber-tip and tail hook fixation we have introduced a revolutionary and extremely lightweight easyfix fixation system using hook and loop technology. Specially prepared for contour skins, the glue remains tacky at low temperatures yet will leave no residues on the ski base on warmer days.
Material
contour skins are manufactured from mohair-material, which is the shorn wool of angora goats. To improve resistance to abrasion, a 30 % share of synthetic fibres is added in the spinning process. This mixture performs extremely well in terms of gliding, climbing and longevity. The backing material is made from cotton, reinforced with polyester to prevent the skins from tearing. A hydrophobic treatment of the skins avoids icing up in wet conditions. contour speed skins are made from 100 % mohair material an glide extremely well. The special glue stays sticky even at low temperatures. By using the contour transfer tape, the glue can easily be renewed after extended use by simply ironing in a new layer of the original glue. Alternatively the glue can be renewed with glue in tubes. contour skins are available in the most commong carving shapes, as straight skins or as trimmable skins.
